My sons non Pontiac project

Post by 67drake »

I pulled the 3 wheeler bike out of the junk pile at work (cost me $1!). My company is so big the maintenance guys use these and golf carts to run around in.I figured the bike would be cool to throw candy out of at our town St. Patrick’s day parade.
My 12 year old son Matt saved enough money to buy an engine at Harbor Freight and asked if he could put it on the bike. Sure! I’m too busy, so he’s on his own. I told him to research it and if he has any questions I’ll do my best to answer or find out, but I would like to see him do this himself. I figured it will be a good learning experience.
We’ll see how it goes.

Cool!

Awesome to see a kid take some interest in something like that.

Did you get him a centrifugal clutch? Or are you letting him figure it out?

He’s going to get a centrifugal. We have a go cart that one of my older sons hopped up with a bigger engine a few years back. That has a centrifugal clutch, so he has a little experience with them. He told me this afternoon that he was still looking into what gears to get to match the engine. Hmmmm....looks like he is thinking it through at least.
